Fight For Love.

God is calling us to Fight for the things that matter.

Nehemiah 4: 14

After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and [fight] for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

Passivity Defined. - inactiveness, spiritlessness, numbness, apathy, submission to others or to outside influences, the trait of being willing to yield to the will of another person or a superior force.

When I looked up the definition of passivity my mind was blown away. In a spiritual sense, I coudn't believe the word Spiritlessness was there because that is exactly what it is, to be without Spirit. Today, I was reminded of how many of the things that truly matter in life are going to require us to not only act but fight.  Far too many times, we become passive thinkers and doers and enter this state of inactivity, apathy, and numbness in our lives. As a culture, we do it in our marriages, in our relationships, in our jobs, and in other areas of our lives. Rather than working hard we become passive and merely strive to "stay" & "keep" our relationships, jobs, etc. . .  We fall into a routine and become robotic-like in our lives totally disengaged and unaffected by the here and now and by each other.

What would this planet look like if we had more marriages, couples, families, and people who actually fought for each other instead of with each other. People who  fought for Love's sake.  For, our fight is not "against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12) Sometimes those forces may be external but many times they are internal forces within ourselves that we have to fight and overcome. I used to think that passive people were somewhat "selfless" because they were just so willing to yield to the will of another person but nothing could be further from this. Passivity is a state of being so self absorbed that  your only thinking of how a situation affects you. That is what we are seeing in today's culture. I believe that to truly be selfless we must fight the internal forces within ourselves.

This is an area in my life that I am currently working on and trying to become more selfless by moving away from passivity. It is so easy to fall into routines and just go through life day by day as if nothing is truly worth fighting for. But when we move away from a "Spiritless" passive state and begin to fill ourselves  with the Spirit, we are more than equipped and ready to fight for the things that matter.
